I'm proud to show that we not only move furniture around within existing walls and structure, but we also adjust the structure of the house, along with furniture and everything else, around the sun, client requirements, and the experience of creating a healthy living space, from beginning to end.
This project involved comprehensive remodeling, innovative layout designs, and intricate detailing.
The Glover House features a thoughtful separation of private and entertaining areas. All three bedrooms and the laundry room are on the second floor, ensuring privacy, while the first floor is dedicated to living and entertaining spaces. The house boasts a rooftop with a 360-degree view and another rooftop on the ADU, providing ample outdoor space.
A standout feature is the central staircase leading to the rooftop, creating a unique and interesting shape visible from the street. The design is organic and simple, avoiding overcrowding and promoting a tranquil environment perfect for mental detox. Despite using simple materials, every detail has been meticulously crafted for balance and efficiency.
Working closely with the architect, engineer, and developer was an amazing experience, allowing us to innovate and adapt quickly. The Glover House represents our commitment to excellence and creativity, setting a new standard for future projects at Gonad Design.
THE PROJECT
Starting with the Sun
Every design starts with one golden question: Where’s the sun? We dive into the details of its daily dance over your property. After all, even the fanciest design feels dull without the warmth of natural light.
Picture this: an olive tree standing between your house and the sun, casting dappled shadows that sway like a melody. These playful patterns of light and shadow evolve throughout the day and seasons, creating a dynamic, nature-connected vibe in your home.
The sun was our design guide, helping us figure out where to place the entrance door and stairs, which are positioned to the north. With the backyard facing southeast, we're getting plenty of natural light. And, of course, the master suite is perfectly situated on the south side, soaking up all the sunshine it can handle!
